Breitling revamps SuperOcean for 2022

The iconic 1960s dive watch gets an overhaul with bold, flashy new colours
Swiss luxury watchmaker Breitling has announced the launch of a reimagined version of its iconic 1960s SuperOcean model, the sporty diving watch known for its lack of a second hand and durable yet chic profile.
The new collection, as the brand puts it, "retraces the pared-down aesthetic" of the original SuperOcean Slow Motion, which initially launched in 1965, and adds "modern features and a bright palette of colour".
"Plus, it’s no longer strictly a dive watch," the brand adds. "Surf with it, swim with it, hit the beach bar with it."
Water-resistant to 300 m (1000 ft), the new SuperOcean features broad hands and indexes coated in Super-LumiNova, allowing for strong readability underwater, while also being shock-, sand-, and saltwater-resistant. Its automatic Breitling Caliber 17 comes with a two-year warranty and an approximate 38-hour power reserve.
The model is available in four sizes, 46, 44, 42, and 36 mm, and in three different case metals; steel, steel-gold, and bronze.
Breitling CEO Georges Kern said of the new design: “There’s a certain sameness to the look of most dive watches, but the Slow Motion always stood out from the crowd. We’re so pleased to introduce our modern take on this classic, the all-new Superocean.”
