Destinations around the world are poised to welcome travellers back in 2022 and showcase their newest hotel openings, be they small boutique offerings or ultra-luxurious, state-of-the-art bases from which to explore some of the world's great cities – we at Tempus obviously prefer the latter.
So whether visitors are looking to stay in design-led properties in Toronto, a five-star sustainable stay in Hong Kong, or a luxury hotel on the doorstep of Nashville’s coolest music venues, here are 10 of 2022’s most anticipated openings.
Rosewood Vienna
Rosewood Hotels & Resorts is opening its fifth European property in summer 2022 situated on Vienna’s historic Old Town square, Petersplatz. The hotel will be surrounded by traditional elegant European works of architecture (including the baroque St. Peter’s Church), and is just moments away from the city’s most luxurious shopping and dining destinations including the Goldenes Quartier, home to exclusive brands such as Prada, Armani and Louis Vuitton.
Housed in the 18th Century former headquarters of Erste Group Bank AG, the Hotel Rosewood will offer 99 spacious rooms and suites, a rooftop bar with incredible views of the city and an intimate, terrace garden offering authentic European cuisine. Under Canvas, Utah
Luxury glamping operator Under Canvas is set to complete the Grand Circle of locations in June 2022, with the opening of Under Canvas Bryce Canyon. Under Canvas offers rustic chic retreats set on the edge of some of the USA’s most scenic national parks. Located on 750 acres of beautiful and secluded high mountain plains, Under Canvas Bryce Canyon will offer expansive views of Mt. Dutton to the west, Escalante Mountains to the east and is only 15 minutes from Bryce Canyon National Park.
Its newest location will also offer unparalleled access to some of Utah's best outdoor adventures and landscapes. Four Seasons, Nashville
The five-star, 40-story Four Seasons Hotel and Private Residences is set to redefine luxury urban living in the heart of Nashville when it opens its doors in Spring 2022. Housing 235 rooms and 143 private residences, the hotel will feature floor-to-ceiling windows with panoramic views of Nashville's skyline, a world-class spa with an array of fitness amenities and additional exclusive private residences for longer stays and permanent living.
The hotel offers a range of sophisticated dining and entertainment options. The property is located just south of Music City's Arts District, offering spectacular views over the Cumberland River and close proximity to iconic attractions including the Ryman Auditorium, Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum and the Johnny Cash Museum.
Ritz-Carlton, Scottsdale
The highly anticipated Ritz-Carlton Paradise Valley is set to open in Scottsdale in autumn 2022 and will be the ultimate luxury desert retreat. As the first Ritz-Carlton to be built in North America in over a decade, the resort is positioned to become a flagship property for the premium brand and will be home to one of North America’s longest swimming pools, measuring an impressive 400-feet.
The 215-room, 20-acre resort will offer guests a complete sense of seclusion and desert escape, situated between the breathtaking Camelback and Mummy Mountain vistas. The hotel will reflect its desert surroundings and capture the beauty of nature in more ways than one; restaurants will feature fresh ingredients locally sourced from the resort’s orchard and garden, the spa will offer treatments inspired by Arizonian deserts and luxury accommodations will reflect traditional casitas stylings.
Mandarin Oriental, Palm Beach
Set to debut in late 2022, The Residences Mandarin Oriental Boca Raton will be the brand’s second property in Florida and seventh in North America. All 158 rooms and suites will be designed in a sophisticated contemporary style with attention to detail that is reflective of the brand’s Asian heritage and complemented with extraordinary views of downtown or the new championship golf course, designed by Jack Nicklaus.
The hotel will feature two rooftop pools and a number of fine dining restaurants and bars including Mandarin Oriental’s signature rooftop MO Bar + Lounge. Inspired by both ancient Eastern and European traditions, the spa will offer a range of luxury holistic services, as well as a state-of-the-art fitness centre and Har-Tru tennis courts. The Mandarin Oriental Boca Raton will form part of a two million square-foot, upscale development Via Mizner, which will also include a half-mile of elite, artisan boutiques, sophisticated dining and nightlife.
Ace Hotel, Toronto
Anticipated to open in early 2022, Ace Hotel Toronto will be the first Canadian site for this world-renowned, boutique hotel group, nestled between Toronto’s buzzy Fashion District and Chinatown. Designed in partnership with acclaimed Canadian architects Shim-Sutcliffe, Ace Hotel Toronto will be ‘inspired by the multicultural amalgam of the city’, combining Toronto’s cultural traditions and history with contemporary innovations.
To match this, the hotel interior will embrace wood, leather and exposed concrete, with all 130 rooms evoking a cabin inspired feel with features of woodwork. The hotel will also offer a world-class restaurant and a 14th floor rooftop bar with incredible views of the city and famous CN Tower. Located in the heart of downtown next door to the St. Andrew’s Market and Playground, the hotel’s lobby will be an animated cultural hub and a civic space for guests to enjoy.
Four Seasons, Cartagena
Located just moments away from Cartagena’s UNESCO World Heritage listed city, The Four Seasons Hotels and Residences Cartagena is set to open in late December 2022. A stunning addition to Colombia’s Caribbean coast, the 131-room hotel will be forged from the site of several buildings dating back to the 16th century with restoration work underway to carefully preserve the original architecture.
Close to Bodeguita Pier, the departure point for boat trips to Baru Island and the Islas Corales del Rosario, the Four Seasons Cartagena will include several food and beverage concepts and an atrium lounge as well as 16 private residences, the first branded residential units in the historic town. An impressive 16,000 sq. ft of meetings and event space will ensure business travellers, as well as holidaymakers are well catered for.
Address Marassi Al Bahrain, Marassi
Bahrain has been busy innovating and developing the Marassi waterfront, offering a cohesive mix of residential and commercial properties, high-end shopping, restaurants and hotels, aimed at creating a sustainable urban development and sophisticated real estate destination. Address Marassi Al Bahrain is slated to open in Q1 2022 and the resort will be an integral part of the Marassi Al Bahrain development.

Mantis Kivu Queen uBuranga, Lake Kivu
Setting sail in early 2022, guests will be welcomed on board the Mantis Kivu Queen uBuranga, a luxury houseboat-style hotel cruising along Rwanda’s Lake Kivu. The boat is designed to offer a premium-hotel experience on the water, offering ten modern cabins, a swimming pool, spa, viewing deck with a hot tub, restaurant and bar. Lake Kivu is one of Africa’s great lakes and is the largest lake in Rwanda, with crystal clear waters that stretch for over 1,000 square miles.
Passengers will voyage through one of the most biodiverse ecozones of the world, the Albertine Rift montane forests, enjoying guided hikes and birdwatching sessions along the way. Fullerton Ocean Park Hotel, Hong Kong
The five-star Fullerton Ocean Park Hotel will open to guests in the first half of 2022 in Tai Shue Wan, as the first Fullerton hotel in Hong Kong and the first Fullerton Resort worldwide. The luxury oceanfront hotel will offer 425 guest rooms with spectacular views of the South China Sea. The property group places sustainability at its core and Fullerton Ocean Park Hotel is committed to protecting the local environment and the rich heritage of its building. The group has joined the World Wildlife Fund in signing a Plastic ACTion commitment to reduce the use of single-use plastics, and will offer specially curated guest experiences to learn about marine life in Hong Kong.
The resort will offer an infinity pool, four dining destinations and a state-of-the-art spa and gym, as well as a children’s lagoon and indoor play area.
