The Southbank Centre
The delightful sounds of an orchestra playing in unison may not sound like anything new, but this particular band are doing away with the adage-old brass tradition and swapping their trombones and triangles for solid blocks of ice instead. Yes, ice blocks! Leading the show is Norwegian percussion musician and composer Terje Isungset, performing live with extraordinary ice sculptures. Terje’s work takes jazz and Scandinavian music far beyond the traditional musical boundaries with poetic use of timbre and colour. Alongside vocalist Maria Skranes, the pair’s set features ice horns, an iceofon and ice percussion.
Catch the full performance being filmed and live streamed at 6pm on Friday 15 December here.

With views of the Thames-side Tudor palace, this stunning ice rink offers something for everyone, whether you’re a novice who sticks to the side or a centre hogging expert.

Foodies can whet their appetite this weekend with a delightful stroll through Leadenhall Market, betterwise known as one of London's best kept secrets. A boutique retail market within the heart of the City, the beautiful victorian market provides the perfect setting to spend an afternoon meandering through festively decorated arches sampling cheese, meat and fruit among other sweet treats. Cinephiles will be enthused by the fact that part of the Diagon Alley scenes in Harry Potter and The Philosopher’s Stone were filmed right here, so not only can you fill your tummy with tasty titbits, you can also say you’ve walked the same floors as Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson & co., and what’s more exciting that that, eh?
