Helmed by Paul Wahlberg and his brothers, Hollywood actor Mark and former New Kids on the Block star Donnie, Wahlburgers Covent Garden is the burger joint’s first launch here in the UK. Hugely popular with the Instagram set stateside, the eaterie specialises in Wahlberg family favourites such as Mom’s Sloppy Joes and macaroni and cheese with smoked bacon.
Whether you prefer yours diced, smashed or sliced, a quick scroll through Instagram will demonstrate just how crazy we are for avocados here in the UK – and this summer, the UK's first avocado based restaurant Avo Bar is making its way to Covent Garden. The green fruit is taking centre stage at the boutique restaurant in a number of tasty dishes including avocado carpaccio, avo hot cakes, green shakshuka.
Petersham Nurseries first central London restaurant La Goccia, the first outside of New York, is to feature a wood fired oven, large grill and attractive dining area perfect for catching up with friends. The open kitchen allows guests to view chefs as they expertly prepare their dishes, offering an element of drama and theatre. The restaurant presents Petersham Nurseries’ interpretation of the Italian aperitivo and small plates known as ‘cicchetti’ with an emphasis on fresh seasonal produce.
Serving up a blend of Japanese, Brazillian and Peruvian culture, Sushisamba at 110 Bishopsgate has long been one of London’s trendiest restaurants, and is now expanding its London portfolio to Covent Garden too. Consumers with a hunger for beautiful views as well as food will soon be able to overlook the 300-year-old Royal Opera House from within the historic Market Building whilst sipping a cocktail in the glassed balcony of the new spot.
Paris's much lauded Frenchie and Ollie Dabbous' Henrietta at the Henrietta Hotel will be joined by America’s Buns & Buns, delivering a slice of Floridian dining to Covent Garden. Taking over the spot held by Jamie Oliver's Union Jacks, it will be the chain's first sit-in location in the UK. Based on the concept of ‘healthy fast food’ guests can enjoy bao buns, burgers, salads and steak sandwiches.
The team behind Kitty Fishers in Mayfair are adding a second restaurant to its portfolio, Cora Pearl on Henrietta Street. Hearty Gastronomic highlights include leek heart with smoked eel, quail with Baby Gem & Coolea and fish stew. To whet your appetite, there will be a myriad of cocktails served up in antique French glasses, to coincide with the restaurant’s theme, as well as a World Wine list.
